From The Stewards
To The Team Manager,
Scuderia Ferrari HP Document 53 Date 12 September 2026 Time 19:32
The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (document 43) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 16 - Charles Leclerc Competitor Scuderia Ferrari HP Time 17:01 Session Qualifying Fact Car 16 exceeded the time limit between the Safety Car lines. Infringement Breach of Article B1.8.6 of the FIA F1 Regulations and Article 12.2.1.i of the International Sporting Code – Non-compliance with Race Director's Competition Notes (item 1, document 28). Decision Competitor: Reprimand. Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 16 (Charles Leclerc), team representative and reviewed video, timing, telemetry and in-car video evidence. The driver of Car 16 returned to the pits after setting his final lap time in Q3 without any other cars interfering and did not comply with the delta time requirements. During the hearing the team representative admitted that they provided the driver with a wrong delta time profile due to a miscalculation. Therefore the driver complied with the delta displayed on his dash, but as this delta time was not correct he inadvertently breached the delta time requirements. The Stewards determine that in this case the team is exclusively at fault and the driver did not make any mistake. Therefore a penalty to the team is imposed. The Stewards also take into account that in this scenario the deviating delta time provided to the driver did not have any performance implication for Car 16 or any other car. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
