Time 14:42 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 16 - Charles Leclerc Competitor Scuderia Ferrari HP
Time 14:03
Session Race Fact Car 16 left the track and gained a lasting advantage Infringement Breach of Article B1.8.6 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Decision 5 second time penalty. Reason The Stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video and in-car video
evidence. The Stewards have determined that both cars entered turn 4 with excessive speed and therefore neither would have been able to make the corner on track, as demonstrated by the fact that car 44 which was on the inside, had to go off track to make the corner. Car 16 was therefore not entitled to claim the corner due to the excessive entry speed. The driver then completed an overtake whilst off track and accordingly this warrants a penalty. The baseline penalty guideline is 10 seconds however in mitigation is the fact that car 44 was also off track on the inside of car 16 and this occurred early in the first lap. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits. Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
