Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Document 82 Date 23 May 2026 Time 19:21
The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (documents 71 & 72) and heard from the drivers and team representatives, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 18 - Lance Stroll Competitor Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Time 16:17 Session Qualifying Fact Car 18 allegedly impeded Car 27 on the approach to Turn 5 Infringement Alleged breach of Article B4.1.1 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Decision No further action. Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 18 (Lance Stroll), team representatives and reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry, team radio and in-car video evidence. The driver of Car 18 advised that he saw Car 27 approaching but knew that he did not have the power at that stage of the lap, to move ahead quickly. He also believed that if he tried to move off the racing line (i.e. to the left) he felt he would risk loss of control because he had previously run onto the grass at a prior turn, and that, combined with the track on the left being "dirty", would not have provided sufficient traction. The driver of Car 27 (via written submission) and the team representative of Car 27 both agreed that this was not a case of "unnecessary impeding". Accordingly the Stewards decide to take no further action. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
