Time 15:44 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 23 - Alexander Albon Competitor Atlassian Williams F1 Team
Time 15:04
Session Race Fact Car 23 caused a collision with Car 87 at Turn 6. Infringement Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 d) of the FIA International Sporting Code. Decision 10 second time penalty. Reason The Stewards reviewed video, team radio and in-car video evidence.
Car 23 attempted to overtake Car 87 on the inside of Turn 6. While doing so, the driver of Car 23 locked the left-front wheel and understeered into the rear-left tyre of Car 87, causing Car 87 to spin. The Stewards determined that Car 23 was not driving in a fully controlled manner from entry to the apex of the corner and therefore did not satisfy the requirements of the Driving Standards Guidelines for an inside overtake. Car 23 was wholly at fault for the collision. The Stewards therefore imposed the standard 10 second time penalty. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits. Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
