The Stewards, having received a report from the Technical Delegate have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 23 - Alexander Albon Competitor Atlassian Williams F1 Team Time 14:22 Session Reconnaissance Laps Fact Car 23 left the pit lane during the reconnaissance laps without functioning rear lights Infringement Breach of Article B1.5.5 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Decision Competitor: Reprimand. Reason The Stewards reviewed video of Car 23 traversing the pit lane during the reconnaissance laps which confirmed that the rear lights on Car 23 were not illuminated as required by Article B1.5.5 of the FIA F1 Regulations. The Technical Delegate subsequently confirmed that the team had rectified the issue prior to the start of the Race. However, as a functioning rear light is an essential safety device, the Stewards see no basis to refrain from imposing a penalty. All competitors are reminded of the importance of ensuring that this safety system is checked thoroughly and maintained in proper working order at all times.
Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
