Cadillac Formula 1 Team Document 19 Date 24 September 2026 Time 15:29
The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (document 15) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 77 - Valtteri Bottas Competitor Cadillac Formula 1 Team Time 13:02 Session Free Practice 1 Fact Overtaking under yellow flags Infringement Breach of Appendix H, Article 2.5.5 b) of the International Sporting Code. Decision No penalty is applied. Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 77 (Valtteri Bottas), team representative and reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry, and in-car video evidence. Car 77 overtook Car 23 (ALB) between Turns 6 and 7 shortly after a Single Yellow Flag was displayed. At the time the yellow was displayed, Car 77 was approaching at approximately 240 kph Car 23 with a speed differential of approximately 120 kph. Given the very short time between the display of the yellow and the overtake, the Stewards determined that Car 77 could not reasonably have avoided completing the overtake. The telemetry further showed that Car 77 reacted to the yellow and reduced speed. The Stewards therefore determine that, although Car 77 technically overtook Car 23 within the yellow flag sector, no penalty is warranted in the circumstances.
Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
