The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (document 17) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following:

No / Driver 63 - George Russell Competitor Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Time 16:41 Session Sprint Qualifying Fact Car 63 driving unnecessarily slowly.

Infringement Breach of Article 33.4 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations and Article 12.2.1 i) of the International Sporting Code - Non-compliance with Race Director's Event Note (item 1, document 15). Decision Driver: Reprimand (Driving). This is the driver's 1st reprimand of the season. Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 63 (George Russell), team representative and reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry, team radio and in-car video evidence. The driver of Car 63 stated that he misjudged the distance from the cars in front and thought that they would allow a bigger gap back to him in the final sector, and accordingly he reduced speed to gain a gap which resulted in him exceeding the maximum time. Consistent with previous incidents of a similar nature, a Reprimand is imposed on the driver. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
