Session Qualifying Fact Car 5 was released into the path of Car 44.
Offence Breach of Art 28.13 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. Decision The competitor (Aston Martin Cognizant F1 Team) is fined €5,000. Reason The Stewards heard from the team representative and reviewed video evidence. Several cars were released into the pit lane at the same time. The driver of Car 5 was released by his team, but at the same time the team's other car was also being released. This caused Car 5 to move towards the fast lane when Car 44 was passing and Car 44 had to take avoiding action to avoid an incident. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
