Time 19:48 2020 TURKISH GRAND PRIX 12 - 15 November 2020 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (document 28) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 4 - Lando Norris Competitor McLaren F1 Team Time 16:07 Session Qualifying Fact Failure to respect yellow flags at turn 8. Offence Breach of Appendix H, Art. 2.5.5.1.b) and non-compliance with Race Director's Event Notes 7.2. Decision Drop of five grid places (3 penalty points imposed, total of 5 points in the 12 month period) Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 4 (Lando Norris), the team representative and have reviewed video, radio, telemetry and marshalling system evidence. Car 4 approached turn 8 which was under double waved yellow flags for Car 6 (Nicolas Latifi). Telemetry shows that Car 4 slowed in the sector and resumed speed after the incident. Car 4 then asked his team if he should abort the lap, but was told to stay out because of the rapidly changing track conditions. Car 4 completed the lap, which turned out to be his fastest lap of Q1. While the stewards acknowledge that Car 4 was not attempting to set a quick lap time, due to the changing track conditions he nevertheless did so and thereby breached the referenced regulations. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Article 10.1.1 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
