Session Race Fact Alleged not leaving the steering wheel in place. Offence Alleged breach of Article 22.5 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

Decision No further action. Reason The Stewards reviewed video and radio evidence and heard from the driver of car 3 (Daniel Ricciardo) and the team representative. The car stopped on entry to turn 2 due to power unit issues.  The ERS system alert light then went to red signifying the car was electrically unsafe.  The team radioed the driver to shut down the power unit and electrical system, and to jump from the car.  The driver was also instructed not to touch the car. (The Stewards note that this is the normal safety procedure in such circumstances to avoid potential electrocution).  The driver felt it would be dangerous to try to replace the steering wheel in these circumstances. Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code.
