Time 23:39 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (document 29) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine

Session Qualifying Fact Failure to follow the Race Director's Event Notes. Infringement Alleged breach of Article 12.2.1 i) of the International Sporting Code and noncompliance with Race Director's Event Note (item 17, document 3). Decision Warning.

Reason The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 55 (Carlos Sainz), team representative and reviewed, video, and in-car video evidence. The driver failed to go around the bollard at Turn 3 having left the track at turn 2 during Q1. The driver explained that he left the track because he was out of control and was concerned with regaining control and as it was qualifying know that his lap time would be deleted. Considering that the lap was deleted, which is a penalty and no advantage was gained and no other driver impeded, the Stewards issue a warning. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
