Session Free Practice 1 Fact Car 98 was released with a cooling fan still attached to the intake of the right radiator. Infringement Breach of Article B1.6.2b.i of the FIA F1 Regulations.

Decision The competitor (Audi Revolut F1 Team) is fined €7,500. Reason The Stewards heard from the team representative and reviewed video evidence. The team representative explained that on noticing that the cooling fan was still attached, he checked with his engineers to ascertain if it was safe to continue the lap and was advised by them that it was. The team then instructed the driver to pit, and it was confirmed the driver was unaware of the issue. Although the fan did not fall off the car (as was the case of a car in Australia this year) there was the possibility it could have.  Accordingly a penalty similar to that applied to Car 12 in Australia, was applied. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
