# 2026 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

## 30 October - 01 November

From The Stewards

**To The Team Manager,**

Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team Document 57 Date 31 October 2026 Time 19:05

The Stewards, having received a report from the Technical Delegate (document 53), summoned (document 55) and heard from the driver and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following:

No / Driver 30 - Liam Lawson Competitor Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team Time 15:47 Session Qualifying Fact Car 30 did not comply with with the requirements of Articles C5.12.6 and C5.12.7 of the F1 Regulations Infringement Breach of Articles C5.12.6 and C5.12.7 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Decision Car 30 is disqualified from the results of the Provisional Qualifying Classifications. Reason The Stewards heard from the team representatives of Car 30 (Liam Lawson), the driver, the Single Seater Sporting Director and members of the FIA Technical team including the FIA Technical Delegate. Evidence submitted, which was accepted by all parties present, showed that after the control line at the end of his fastest lap in Q2, the driver did not lift off the power immediately.  This resulted in the rate of reduction of MGUK deployment required to achieve the regulated "step down", not being achieved. The team argued that this did not provide any performance advantage however it is clear that non-compliance with the Technical Regulations is not excused if no performance advantage is gained.  Further, these regulations require that a car must comply with them at all times during an event. The Stewards note in particular that the team self-disclosed the breach however there are a multitude of precedents that require us, despite all mitigating circumstances, to impose a penalty of Disqualfication where a car does not comply with the Technical Regulations. Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.
